

Then, in 1980, the park closed down after failing to attract the crowds.
Its decline occurred shortly after a fire destroyed the parks main attraction, the Emerald City exhibit, in 1976.
As you can imagine, over the years nature ran its course and gradually deteriorated what was left standing. There were also occasional instances of trespassers vandalizing.
The Land of Oz only opens for one October weekend annually. For the remainder of the year, it is absolutely abandoned.
